Mya’s Favourite chocolatte Tiffins

These easy chocolate tiffins don’t use too many ingredients. You might have some of them at home already. Please remember to follow current government guidance if you are going to the shops. Stay safe.

When it’s time for a treat there’s nothing like making something yourself, so grab your adult and let’s head to the kitchen! These tiffins are SO easy and SO tasty.

What you will need:

225g Digestive biscuits (just under half of one of the long packs)

3 tbsp caster sugar

150g Unsalted butter

3 tbsp Golden syrup

4 tsp Cocoa powder

A handful or two of raisins (you could also use glace cherries if you are feeling fancy!)

Large bar of milk chocolate (you could use white or dark too if you prefer)

A large saucepan

A cake tin, pyrex dish or loaf tin

A large mixing bowl

Rolling pin or wooden spoon

Microwave (optional)

Let’s get started!

The first step in cooking and baking is always…wash your hands.

Tip the digestive biscuits into the large mixing bowl

Using a rolling pin or wooden spoon (or anything that will work) crush up the biscuits until they are crumbs.

Melt the butter in the large saucepan

Add the golden syrup

Add the caster sugar

Add the cocoa powder

Once the mixture in the saucepan is smooth and mixed together well…

Add the raisins (or fancy cherries)

Add the broken up digestives a little at a time, using the wooden spoon to stir the ingredients together.

Rub butter around the inside of the cake tin, or dish you will be using. Make sure you butter the bottom and the sides

Once all the biscuit crumbs are evenly mixed in with the chocolaty-good-ness, spoon the mix into your buttered tin or dish

Press the mixture down firmly all over…don’t forget the corners

Melt the chocolate. You can do this in the microwave but only put it in for a minute or so at a time, stir and put it back in, until it is smooth. You can also melt it by heating up a saucepan of water, placing a glass bowl on top of the pan and breaking up the chocolate into it. Be extra careful if you are doing it this way because that water is going to get VERY hot.

Pour the melted chocolate over the top of your pressed down mix

Put the tin or dish in the fridge to set…for as long as you can fight the temptation to try some!
